Paddle the Chena River from Pioneer Park to the Pump House

Stand-Up Paddleboard on the Chena River

See Fairbanks while you float the Chena River – A Local Hot Spot!

This is our most popular float trip.  The leisurely two-hour paddle down the tranquil lower Chena River begins at the CanoeAlaska store at 1101 Peger Road.  Start from our Pioneer Park park location. We’ll set you up with your choice of canoe, kayak, or stand up paddle board (SUP).  Float through Fairbanks towards the the historic Pump House Restaurant.  Keep your eyes open for waterfowl, beavers, muskrat, mink, and fox. These animals are sometimes spotted on this stretch of river. You can enjoy a cold beverage or meal on the deck at the PumpHouse at the end of your float, but  keep in mind that the Restaurant opens at 4pm and only operates Tuesday-Saturday. Unfortunately, we are un-able to provide transportation for people back to our shop at this time, but you do not need to worry about getting the boats back.  CanoeAlaska will have a trailer parked at the Pump House for you to load the boats onto. Feel free to leave the boats on the shore if you are unable to get them to the trailer!  Please plan your own transportation.

The Pioneer Park to Pump House trip price is $70 for a canoe or double kayak rental or $50 for single kayak or SUP.  This includes the canoe, kayak or SUP, paddle(s) and PFD (life vests).
